Apart from the overall managerial Work packages to warrant the interactions among the Work packages (WP0; WP leader Chris De Zeeuw), each of the two main research lines is divided into nine Work packages that run in parallel; they all cover various phases in the timelines (described in more detail in the section ‘overview of milestones and deliverables’ below) and all have a designated Work package leader:
wp 1 – Validation of existing genetic models and identifying specific sets of behavioral traits for diseases and disease progression (Work package leader – Christiaan Levelt)
wp 2 – Generation of new mouse models of disease and their behavioral phenograms (Work package leader – Matthijs Verhage)
wp 3 – Design and synthesis of novel biologically active compounds (Work package leader – Rob Leurs)
wp 4 – Drug profiling in the home cage; creating the pharma-phenograms (Work package leader – Maarten Loos)
wp 5 – Elucidation of the working mechanisms of neuropharmacological compounds at the molecular and cellular level (Work package leader – Guus Smit)
wp 6 – Elucidation of the working mechanisms of neuropharmacological compounds at the cell physiological level (Work package leader – Gerard Borst)
wp 7 – Elucidation of the working mechanisms of neuropharmacological compounds at the systems level (Work package leader – Huib Mansvelder
wp 8 – Behavioral measurement technology, data integration and pheno-informatics (Work package leader – Wil van Dommelen)
wp 9 – Translation of animal model findings to human disease treatments (Work package leader – Ype Elgersma).
